SALESMAN DRIVES “BEGGAR” OUT OF THE SHOWROOM — BUT HE BECAME BLIND WHEN THE OLD MAN PUT OUT MILLIONS TO BUY TEN CARS FROM AN INTERN

Ricky is the top agent at Elite Luxury Cars. He is known for being a good salesman, but he is also known for being poor. To him, if you are not wearing a Rolex or an expensive suit, you have no right to enter their showroom.

One hot afternoon, an old man named Tatay Berto entered. He was wearing only an old shirt with holes, faded shorts, and slippers of a different color. He was carrying a dirty sack.

Ricky immediately stopped him at the door.

“Hey! Manong!” Ricky shouted. “Beggers are not allowed here! Get out! You go outside and beg! Our floor is dirty because of your slippers!”

“Son, I want to look at a car…” Tatay Berto said softly, clearly tired and thirsty.

“A car?!” Ricky laughed out loud. “Maybe you’re looking for a cart? Look at yourself! You don’t even have enough money to buy soap, let alone a car? Get out of here! Security!”

In the midst of the humiliation, Ana approached. Ana was just an OJT (On-the-Job Trainee). She was just struggling and working to graduate.

“Sir Ricky, let me go,” Ana pleaded. “Tatay looks really tired. Let’s let him in for a while so he can rest.”

“Take care of your life, Ana!” Ricky snapped. “If he steals or the sofa stinks, you’ll be responsible! You’re wasting your time there!”

Ricky left the old man and went back to playing with his cellphone in the air conditioner.

Ana helped Tatay Berto sit on a nice sofa.

“Dad, you stay here,” Ana smiled. She took a glass of cold water and biscuits from her own bag. “Excuse me, my friend. He’s just hot-headed. Drink this.”

Dad Berto drank the water quickly. He smiled at Ana.

“Thank you, little one. You have a very kind heart. What’s the best car here?”

Ana pointed to the top-of-the-line Sports SUV in the middle.

“That’s it, Dad. It’s worth 10 Million Pesos. It’s the strongest and fastest.”

Dad Berto nodded.

“Okay. I’ll take that.”

Ana was surprised. “Yes?”

“I’ll take that,” the old man repeated. “And not just one. I’ll buy ten.”

Ricky heard this from afar. He burst out laughing.

“Hahaha! Ten! The beggar has gone crazy! Ana, let it out!”

Tatay Berto slowly opened the dirty sack he was carrying.

Ana’s eyes widened.

Ricky’s cellphone fell.

The sack was FULL OF BUNDLES OF MONEY.

Thousands of pesos tied with rubber bands. It smelled old, but it was real money.

“I just sold my land in the province where the airport will be built,” Tatay Berto explained. “I brought the cash because I don’t trust the bank.”

Ricky suddenly ran closer. He changed his attitude.

“Sir! Sir!” Ricky greeted with an ear-to-ear smile. “I’m Ricky, the Senior Manager here! I’ll take care of you! Let’s go to my office, there’s coffee and air conditioning!”

Ricky tried to grab the sack of money.

“Don’t touch me,” said Father Berto coldly.

Father Berto pushed Ricky’s hand away. He turned to face Ana.

“Daughter,” said the old man to Ana. “You gave me water when I was so thirsty. You gave me a seat when I was so tired.”

He pointed to the ten expensive cars.

“I will buy these ten cars. I will name one after each of my grandchildren. And I want the commission on all of these to go to you.”

Ana burst into tears. The commission for the ten luxury cars was enough to change her life and that of her family for the rest of her life.

“S-Sir… but I’m just a trainee…” cried Ana.

“I don’t care if you’re a trainee,” replied Father Berto.

Father Berto looked at Ricky who was now pale and embarrassed in front of the other employees and the real Manager who had come out because of the trouble.

Father Berto uttered the words that struck a chord with them all:

“The water you gave and the respect you showed… YOUR GOODNESS is more important than this entire store.”

In the end, Ana became a Top Sales Agent and later a Manager. Ricky was fired by the owner for being rude to a VIP client. Father Berto went home happy, with new cars for the family, and left with the lesson that true wealth is not in the pocket, but in the heart.
