A BRIDE’S DISCOVERY ON HER WEDDING DAY AFTER RECEIVING A MYSTERIOUS BOX FROM HER OLD FRIEND CONTAINING A TRACKER

The air-conditioned room inside the spacious bridal suite of a popular hotel in Marikina was freezing cold, but Andrea’s palms were sweating nonstop. She had only two hours to wait and would be walking down the aisle to marry Mark. She was already wearing a sparkling white gown and was just waiting for the wedding coordinator.

However, an unexpected knock changed the day. A bellboy handed her a small black box. When Andrea read the sender’s name, her heart almost stopped beating. It was from Clara—her best friend who had died in a tragic car accident six months earlier.

Andrea’s hands were shaking as she opened the box. Inside, she was greeted by an old smartphone turned on and a folded piece of paper. She flipped it open and recognized Clara’s handwriting.

“Andrea, if you can read this, it means I’m gone. This delivery is scheduled for your wedding day as my last chance to save you. Open the phone. There’s a live location tracker hidden in Mark’s car. Follow it now, before it’s too late.”

Nervously, Andrea looked at the screen. A red dot was blinking on the map, and it didn’t show the church. The location pointed to an abandoned subdivision in Antipolo, Rizal.

Without hesitation, Andrea immediately removed her veil, grabbed her car keys, and secretly left the hotel through the fire exit. She ignored the dirt clinging to her gown. She had to know the truth.

She quickly traveled up the road to Antipolo until she reached a subdivision that had long been unfinished—all concrete skeletons of houses and tall trees all around. She parked her car in a dark area and walked closer to the only house with Mark’s black SUV parked there.

Andrea slowly crept closer to the window. She peered through the small crack. She saw Mark inside, wearing a black jacket and busy packing large duffel bags full of money. With him was their wedding planner, Valerie. In a corner of the room, two children were quietly watching them.

“Move quickly, Mark!” Valerie whispered nervously. “If you don’t show up for church, they’ll come looking for you! Are you sure you’ve arranged Andrea’s life insurance? That’s two hundred million! Once we’ve made plans for your honeymoon tomorrow, we can leave with the kids.”

Andrea almost fainted. They planned to kill her for money!

“Yes, everything is fine,” Mark replied coldly. “It’s just like what I did to Clara when she found out about the two of us. I cut the brake line of her car and made it look like an accident. No one noticed. No one could stop us.”

Andrea’s tears flowed. The man she loved the most was a monster who killed her best friend. Andrea took out her cellphone to record the conversation and send it to her police brother. But as she backed away, she stepped on a dry branch. A loud click rang out.

Suddenly, there was silence inside. Mark turned to the window. “There’s someone outside!” He pulled out his gun and ran out. Andrea almost flew down the bushy path back to the car. Her gown was catching on the thorns, but she didn’t stop. She heard heavy footsteps behind her.

“Andrea! Come back here!” Mark’s angry voice said. A gunshot shattered the silence, and Andrea felt a bullet pass through her arm. She screamed but kept running.

When she reached the car, she quickly got in and locked the door. Just then, Mark arrived, trying to break the window. The engine died several times because of Andrea’s trembling. Mark finally broke the glass and slammed his hand to reach the key.

But a deafening wail of sirens rang out. Four patrol cars quickly surrounded him. Before Mark could run, the police, including Andrea’s brother, were already aiming their guns at him.

Andrea sank to the steering wheel, sobbing as Mark was tackled and handcuffed outside. On what should have been the happiest day of her life, she discovered a shocking truth that saved her from death. She was stunned and grateful. Even from the afterlife, Clara proved that true friendship can never be stopped by evil.

The interior of Branch 15 of the Pasig City Regional Trial Court is cold and silent. The air is tense as Andrea sits on the witness stand, facing the man who almost took her life. Mark smiles as he whispers to his expensive lawyer.

It has been six months since the tragic day of their wedding in Marikina. Despite the arrest of Mark and wedding planner Valerie in an abandoned subdivision in Rizal, it seems the winds are still blowing in the criminals’ favor.

The defense used their lawyer’s skills to turn the situation around. According to them, the incident in the subdivision was just a big misunderstanding. They made it appear that Andrea was suffering from severe pre-wedding jitters and paranoia.

The big bags full of money? They say that they are funds for a grand surprise honeymoon that Mark and Valerie are preparing. The gunshot? Mark said it was self-defense because he thought there was an armed robber outside the house disturbing them.

Andrea’s anger grew even more intense when Valerie testified. The woman was still crying as she sat before the judge. “We are not doing anything wrong,” Valerie sobbed. “I am just helping Mark arrange their travel documents. Our lives are ruined because of Andrea’s false suspicion.”

Andrea sagged in her seat. The biggest hole in her case was the lack of solid evidence. The audio recording she was supposed to have obtained while the two were talking was completely destroyed. When the bullet hit her arm, the cellphone in her pocket also shattered, causing its entire memory board to be corrupted.

But the fight was not over. Andrea looked at her police sister sitting in the gallery. She nodded with certainty. It was time to bring down their final ace to end this evil.

The prosecutor stood up and announced loudly. “Your Honor, we request permission to call our last and most important surprise witness for this case.”

The heavy courtroom doors opened. A woman entered, hunched over, supported by two children. Mark’s eyes widened. His mocking grin disappeared and he suddenly turned pale. Even Valerie stood up in shock, her knees shaking. Andrea immediately recognized the two children—they were the same children she had seen in the dark corner of the abandoned house in Antipolo on her wedding day.

The woman sitting on the witness stand was Aling Rosa. “She is the wife of Mang Tomas, the mechanic who fixed the late Clara’s car before it was in an accident,” the prosecutor began.

Aling Rosa trembled as she revealed the whole truth. The two children with Mark and Valerie in Antipolo were not their children—they were Aling Rosa’s children. Mark kidnapped the children to blackmail the mechanic’s family. Mark ordered Mang Tomas to cut the brake lines of Clara’s car.

When the mechanic felt guilty and threatened to report it to the police, Mark poisoned him and pretended to have had a heart attack while working.

“They’ve had my children for a very long time,” Aling Rosa said tearfully as she pointed at the defendants. “Valerie said they would kill the children if I spoke. But the day the police arrested Mark in Antipolo, Andrea’s brother rescued my children from a locked room behind the subdivision.”

That wasn’t the only explosive thing. Aling Rosa pulled out a small memory card from her bag. “Before my husband was killed, he hid the memory card from our studio’s CCTV as a protection.”

The video was shown on a large screen inside the court. It clearly shows Mark handing a thick envelope of money to Mang Tomas, while Valerie is behind him, keeping an eye on the surroundings. Mark’s voice can still be heard in the video: “Make sure Clara never makes it to her house alive. She already knows too much about our plan to consume Andrea’s family’s wealth.”

Chaos broke out inside the court. In extreme fear and shock, Valerie suddenly pointed at Mark. “He’s the one who masterminded all of this! He just scared me into following him! I had nothing to do with Clara’s murder!”

Mark went berserk. “You have no shame, Valerie! You planned the life insurance scam from the beginning!” he shouted as the bailiffs held him back.

The judge lowered his gavel, ending the comedy of the two criminals. Mark and Valerie were found guilty of murder, kidnapping, and attempted murder. Reclusion perpetua without parole was the final sentence for both of them.

As the two were dragged out of the courtroom to their life sentences, Andrea remained seated. She took a deep breath and closed her eyes. The long nightmare was finally over.

The next day, she visited Clara’s grave in a quiet cemetery. She offered a white rose, smiling as the gentle breeze caressed her cheek.

“The fight is over, best friend. Thank you for the last help. I am safe, and we have justice.”
