A MAN STANDING IN A PARKING SLOT TO RESERVE IT FOR HIS WIFE SO THEY ANSWERED THE DRIVER WHO WANTED TO ENTER, BUT HIS WIFE FURTHER ANGRY WHEN THEY SAW THEIR ENEMY’S CAR ALREADY PARKED
Sunday afternoon. This is the time called “Parking rush” at a popular mall in Quezon City. All the floors are full. Bert and his family are driving around in their newly purchased top-of-the-line SUV.
“Dad, I’m peeing,” his son Jun-jun complained in the back.
“Just a minute, son, we’ll find one too,” Bert replied while sweating from boredom.
Finally! On the 3rd floor, Bert saw a car leaving. He immediately turned on the signal light. But he was shocked when a man in a blue shirt, Boyet, suddenly ran and stood in the middle of the empty slot.
He pulled out his cellphone and seemed to be calling someone, while his body blocked the parking space.
Bert honked his horn at him. BEEP! BEEP!
Boyet didn’t move. He even signaled “Stop!” with his hand.
Bert rolled down the window. “Boss! Pull over! I’m parking!”
“No!” Boyet shouted. “I’m waiting for someone! My wife is coming! I was just sent ahead to reserve!”
Bert’s temper flared. He got out of the car.
“Boss,” Bert said calmly but with a hint of emphasis. “This is a car parking lot, not a waiting shed for people. First come, first serve is the rule here. The first CAR has the right, not the first STAND.”
“I don’t care!” Boyet replied firmly. “I was here first! My body is blocking it! Run over me if you want!”
Other drivers were already looking at them. The traffic was getting congested.
“My body won’t leave here until my wife comes!” Boyet challenged.
Bert grinned. “Oh, is that so? Okay.”
Bert got back in his SUV. He backed it up a little and positioned it diagonally opposite the parking slot. The front of his car blocked the entrance to the slot, so even if Boyet’s wife arrived, she wouldn’t be able to get in. But Bert couldn’t get in completely either because Boyet was still standing inside.
In short, a standoff. No one could get in.
Bert turned off the engine. He got out, along with his wife and Jun-jun.
“Let’s go, Ma. Let’s eat,” Bert told his family.

Boyet was surprised. “Hey! Hey! Where are you going?! You’re leaving your car there?! You’re blocking the road! You’re blocking my slot!”
“Well, you don’t want to leave,” Bert shrugged as he walked away towards the mall’s elevator. “You take care of it. I’ll just go eat.”
Boyet panicked. Bert’s SUV was blocking the driveway. The cars behind were honking their horns. The guards and other drivers were furious.
Out of annoyance and fear of getting caught in the traffic jam, Boyet ran out of the parking slot to chase and confront Bert.
“You idiot! Get back here! Get your car out!” Boyet shouted as he chased after Bert’s family who were already near the mall’s door.
What Boyet didn’t know was that as Bert walked away, he silently pressed the Smart Key Fob in his pocket. He activated the “Remote Smart Parking Assist” feature.
As Boyet pulled away from the parking slot to chase them, the SUV’s sensors detected that the obstruction was clear.
BEEP… BEEP…
The SUV’s steering wheel moved on its own. It moved slowly.
As Boyet pointed at Bert at the mall entrance, the guard suddenly shouted.
“Sir! Your car!”
Boyet turned around. His eyes widened.
The SUV that had been blocking the parking slot for 30 minutes was now pulling into the parking slot he had been guarding for 30 minutes! No driver inside!
SWIIISH.
Perfect parking. Straight and straight.
Boyet’s wife arrived just in time in a red sedan. She saw that the slot that should have been hers was already occupied.
Boyet’s wife opened the window. “Hey Boyet! I thought you made a reservation?! Why is someone else parked there?! You’re stupid enough to be watching!”
Boyet was speechless. He looked at Bert who was at the mall door.
Bert waved while holding the remote key. “Thanks for leaving, Boss! It’s an automatic. Next time, reserve a car, okay? Be careful!”
Those who saw it laughed. Bert’s family went into the mall to eat, while Boyet was left scratching his head as his wife stared at him in the middle of the parking lot.
