BILLIONAIRE TAKES “ORDER” TO TRY A SIMPLE EMPLOYEE — BUT WHEN HE IS ABUSED AT A SOCIAL GATHERING, HE SURPRISES EVERYONE WHEN THE HOTEL OWNER BOWS TO HIM
Lucas is the 28-year-old CEO of Prime Empire, the company that owns half of the city’s business district. Tired of women chasing his wealth, he decides to pretend.
Every morning, he changes his clothes. He becomes “Luka”, the Messenger/Errand Boy at his own company. He wears an old polo shirt, has a bit of a messy hair, and is always hunched over.
That’s where he meets Mia.
Mia is a Receptionist. The salary is low, but she’s very nice. She’s the only one who pays attention to “Luka”.
“Luka, you’re so sweaty,” Mia says, reaching for a tissue and water. “Have you had breakfast? Here, I have an extra sandwich. Let’s share.”
Within six months, Lucas had fallen in love with Mia. He saw that even when Mia was poor, she was always willing to help.
“Mia,” Luka asked once. “Why are you so kind to me? Just give me a job. I don’t have any money.”
Mia smiled. “Luka, you’re human. A person’s worth is not measured by their wallet. And besides… you’re hardworking. That’s enough for me to respect you.”
That’s when Lucas knew: She’s the one. She’s the woman I’m going to marry.
The night of the Grand Company Anniversary arrived. All the employees were invited to a 5-Star Hotel.
Mia wore a simple beige dress that her mother had just sewn. She took Luka with her as her date.
When they entered the ballroom, they immediately looked at each other.
Ms. Glenda, the arrogant HR Manager who always made Mia suffer, approached. Including the sleazy employees.
“Oh my gosh!” Glenda screamed. “Mia? Is that what you’re wearing? Is that the curtain from your house?”
The group laughed.
“And who’s with you?” Glenda pointed at Luka who was wearing an old barong (which Lucas did on purpose). “The messenger?! Yuck! This is a formal event! Why did you bring a tramp here? The venue smells of sweat because of you!”
“Ms. Glenda, he’s my guest,” Mia defended, already crying. “Respect.”
“Respect?!” Glenda shouted angrily. She grabbed a glass of Red Wine.
SPLASH!
Glenda poured the wine on Mia’s dress.
Everyone gasped. Mia was soaking wet. The stain on her simple dress was red.
“Oops,” Glenda grinned. “That’s more appropriate for you. You look really dirty. Security! Get these two out! They are ruining the aesthetics of my party!”
The guard grabbed Mia. Mia was crying. “Luka, come on… let’s go…”
Mia was about to hug Luka, but… Luka pulled away.
Luka stood up straight. He took off his glasses. He brushed his hair back.
His posture suddenly changed—from being obedient, it became full of authority.
“Let him go,” Luka ordered. His voice was deep and scary.
“Who are you to order me around?!” Glenda shouted. “You’re just a messenger!”
Suddenly the door to the VIP Room opened. The Hotel Owner and the Board of Directors came out.
They hurriedly approached the middle. Glenda thought Mia was about to be evicted.
“Sir! You’re here!” Glenda greeted the Hotel Owner. “I’m just evicting these squatters who—”
But the Hotel Owner just passed her by.
He walked straight to Luka.
The Hotel Owner and the Directors BOWED in unison before the messenger.
“Good evening, Chairman Lucas,” greeted the Hotel Owner who was shaking. “We are sorry for the delay.”
Glenda’s eyes widened. All the employees’ jaws dropped.
“C-Chairman?” Mia whispered. “Luka?”
Lucas looked at Mia and smiled sweetly.
“Sorry Mia, I kept it a secret. I am Lucas Prime. I am the owner of the company you work for, and the hotel we are building now.”
Lucas took off his old barong. Underneath it was a custom-made Italian Suit.
He faced Glenda who was now pale and looked like she was about to faint from fear.
“Ms. Glenda,” Lucas said coldly. “You spilled the wine on my date. You called us vagrants at my own party?”
“S-Sir Lucas… I-I don’t know… I was just kidding…” Glenda knelt down, her whole body shaking. “Forgive me!”
“You’re fired,” Lucas declared. “And I will make sure that no company in the entire Philippines will hire you. Get out.”
Security dragged Glenda out.
Lucas faced Mia. He took the handkerchief from his pocket and slowly wiped the stain on Mia’s dress.
“Mia,” Lucas said in front of thousands of people. “When I had no money and just wanted others to look at me, you were the only one who treated me as a person. You were the only one who truly loved me.”
Lucas knelt down and took out a ring.
“I don’t need a socialite. I need a woman with a pure heart. Will you marry me and be the Queen of my Empire?”
Mia nodded, crying. “Yes! Yes, Luka… this is Lucas!”
The entire ballroom applauded.
That night, the “Messenger” and the “Receptionist” became the most powerful couple. Everyone proved that the true state of a person is not seen in the clothes they wear, but in how they treat their neighbors when they think no one is looking.
