NADAL Nagulat! Alex Eala Filipino Army Pinono ang India Wells!

Yeah, I mean she’s really good, really good tennis player.  He competes really well. Like to thank Alex for bringing a new demographic to the sport.  I really appreciate it. I think that it is great for the sport. So keep being enthusiastic and keeping for your player.  Did you know that in the middle of the hot California desert there is a big mess happening right now in the world of tennis? But don’t worry because this tire is brought by our favorite, Alex Iala.
May be an image of tennis and text that says 'I TOLD YOU! SHE'S STAR! MILLIONS FANS SHOWED UP!'
At Indian Wells today, one of the biggest tournaments in the world, there is talk of what they call the Filipino Army.  Just imagine, over two million fans apparently filled the venue just to watch our game. Even tennis legend Rael Nadal was reportedly surprised and couldn’t believe the amount of support a young Filipina was getting.
Why is it that even the organizers panic every time Alex appears on the court? But before everything else, maybe you can like this video because this means a lot to our content creators and please comment below where you are from so we know where our videos reach.  Thank you very much .
To help you understand better, let’s first look back at what happened recently.  Did you know that in Dubai, even famous players like Jessica Pigula couldn’t sleep in their hotels?  Not because of the nerves during the game but because of the loud screaming of the Filipinos outside.  Even though Alex’s fight was over and he lost, the fans still didn’t go home and just continued to boo.
That’s where we have proven that Filipinos love differently.  We don’t just watch, we really give our whole hearts to him. Here in Indian Wells today, what former pro Chris Ubanks said on Live TV became a topic of conversation. He told the organizers that Alex should be moved to the largest stadium because someone might get hurt in the crowded crowd.
Just think, before, only a handful of us watched tennis, but now it seems like it’s become a festival because of Alex.  Every stroke of his racket carries the dream of all of us who have been waiting for a long time for Filipinos to be noticed in this sport.  What’s even more impressive is Alex’s relationship with his mentor, Rafael Nadal.
We all know that Nadal is retired, but because of Alex’s talent, the legend was forced to return to the court just to keep up with his practice. Nadal even said that he felt the joy of tennis again because of this boy.  From being a simple student in Spain, he is now the one everyone looks up to and is always sought after by the cameras.
She is the first Filipina to reach this high level and with each game she plays, foreigners are more impressed by the courage of our player.  Did you know that in January 2025, almost no one even noticed Alex Iala’s rank of world number 147. But time flies because it’s now March 2026 and he’s at number 32 .
Within just a week, he climbed 48 places in the world rankings. Imagine going from being a wild card who wasn’t even mentioned in the news, to now being the star of the tennis channel right inside Indian Wells before his first match even started. This is how quickly our tennis player’s life changed and at the same time, he surprised the most famous names in the world of tennis.
Even top players like Jessica Pegula couldn’t escape the shock brought by the Filipinos.  When they fought in Miami, Pegula was in his home state and a favorite of the Americans.  But he was surprised when he stepped onto the court because instead of his name being shouted, the stadium was filled with Philippine flags.
Pegula wondered where all those people came from. Even though Pigula won that match, to this day he still can’t forget the tension and noise brought by our countrymen.  This army of Alex was not just formed in Indian Wells or Dubai but is the product of over 100 million Filipinos who have been waiting for this kind of star for a long time.
The entire internet witnessed what happened at the Australian Open 2026. A photo of Court Six went viral, where there was a very long line and congestion due to the small space for Alex’s many fans.  Because of this, veteran journalist Ben Rothenberg called him the most popular player in tennis at the moment.
But not everyone was happy because after Alex lost to Alicia Parks, our contestant experienced intense bashing online.  Even tennis legend Kim Kleisters commented and said that the weight Alex carries at such a young age is no joke, especially the pressure from his own fans in the Philippines. Despite all the pressure, Alex didn’t give up.
In Abu Dhabi, Doha and Dubai, she proved her mettle by defeating world top players such as Jasmine Paulini.  Even though he lost to Coco Goof in the quarterfinals, Gof himself paid tribute to Alex’s fans for the new life they give to the sport of tennis. Former pro players Steve Johnson and John Eastner say that Alex has a stronger appeal than their famous counterparts in basketball and golf.
They even likened it to the rise of Brazilian star Joao Fonseca because of the large number of people flocking to every court he would play on.   Did you know that with Alex Ela’s popularity now, he is no longer just a tennis player in the eyes of the world?  Joke the four time grand slam champion Kim Kleisters has been compared to basketball legend Michael Jordan when it comes to his influence in the Philippines.
This is a very heavy recognition for a 20-year-old who is ranked 32nd in the world.  But along with this praise comes a warning about the extreme pressure Alex carries on his shoulders.  People’s high expectations are no joke, especially since almost every move he makes is being watched by the entire world. Here in Indian Wells, the stadium has the capacity to accommodate almost 4,50,000 people for two weeks.
In the long history of this tournament, this is the only time they’ve had scheduling problems because of a player who is too popular for their courts.  And why not?  California is the center of Filipinos in America.  Almost two million Filipinos live near the venue and they are all eager to see the kid who was once only number 147 but is now a seated player.
This is the opportunity for our compatriots in America to show the power of the scream that was previously only heard from the other side of the ocean.   It’s comforting to think that even though Alex has never made it to the finals or won a Grand Slam, he’s always the one asked questions at press conferences by famous players.
This March 6, her debut against Diana Yastremska begins.  And if he’s lucky, he could face Coco Golf again for a rematch.  It will be recalled that Golf defeated him last time in Dubai, so everyone is surely anxious to see how our player will fare. After this, he will return to Miami, the place where it all began in 2025.
But this time, he will no longer be the unknown player but a star that everyone will respect. Despite the bashing he received at the Australian Open, Alex maintained his positivity. Instead of responding to the negative comments, he posted that it was a great privilege to play in front of people who saw themselves in him.
This proves that Alex not only has talent but also a strong character that is rarely seen in a young athlete.  He ignored the anger but instead embraced the responsibility of carrying our country’s flag with honor. From being number 147 to being number 32, Alex proved that we can create our own space in a sport that previously seemed out of our reach.
The organizers were forced to adjust their system because of the size of our army.  So my question to all of you is, do you think Alex Iala will be able to win the Corona here in Indianes this 2026? And if that happens, will this be considered the biggest victory in the history of Philippine Sports? Comment your thoughts below because in the next 48 hours  we will definitely have another big story to talk about.
