KICKED OUT OF LUXURY STORE FOR LOOKING LIKE A FARMER — HE CALLED HIS LAWYER, BOUGHT THE ENTIRE STORES, AND FIRED THE SALES LADY
THE FARMER IN THE MALL
Mang Ambo had just finished harvesting his vast Rice & Corn Plantation. His boots were dirty, his pants were muddy, and he was wearing his favorite faded hat.
He stopped by a High-End Mall before heading home. It was his wife’s anniversary and he wanted to buy her an expensive dress from the famous boutique “Lusso & Co.”
As soon as Mang Ambo entered the store, the sales ladies immediately frowned.
Cindy, the most polite employee, approached. She looked Mang Ambo from head to toe with a hint of disgust.
“Excuse me, Manong,” Cindy said politely. “Begging is not allowed here. You’re outside. Your mud is sticking to our tiles.”
“Ah, Miss,” smiled Mang Ambo. “I’m not begging. I was going to buy a gift for my wife. Can I see the red dress on display?”
Cindy burst out laughing. “Buy? You? Do you know how much that is? A dress here costs 50,000 Pesos! Your salary from farming for a year, maybe not enough to buy those buttons!”
THE KIDNAPPING
Mang Ambo ignored the insult. He approached the dress and touched the fabric. “The fabric is beautiful…”
Cindy slapped Mang Ambo’s hand.
“Don’t touch it!” Cindy shouted. “It’ll get our merchandise dirty! Guard! Guard! Let this old man out! He’s disturbing the VIP customers!”
The guard arrived. “Manong, let’s get out. Management might complain.”
Mang Ambo sighed. He adjusted his hat.
“Miss,” Mang Ambo said seriously. “Are you sure you’re going to kick me out? I just want to buy.”
“Go away! Get lost!” Cindy shouted. “You have no place in the rich man’s store!”
THE CALL
Mang Ambo left the store, but stopped right in front of the mirror.
He picked up his cellphone. He called.
“Hello, Attorney?” said Mang Ambo. His voice was full of authority. “Where are you? Are you with the owner of Lusso & Co.? Isn’t he selling this franchise?”
Cindy overheard the conversation and laughed. “It’s crazy. There’s still Attorney-Attorney.”
“Yes,” Mang Ambo continued on the phone. “Buy it. Right now. Cash. Double the price to agree immediately. And come here to the Mall of Asia branch right now. I’ll wait for you.”
Mang Ambo hung up the phone and just stood outside the door, staring at Cindy.
THE ARRIVAL OF THE BIG BOSSES
After 15 minutes, there was chaos in the mall.
The General Manager of the mall, along with a lawyer, and the Former Owner of Lusso & Co., Mr. Tan, arrived. They were panting.
They approached Mang Ambo who was standing outside.
“Don Ambo!” shouted Mr. Tan. “Sorry if we kept you waiting!”
Mr. Tan shook hands with Mang Ambo respectfully, even though the old man’s hands were dirty.
Cindy came out, shocked. “Sir Tan? Why are you talking to that beggar?”
Mr. Tan turned to Cindy. “Beggar?! He’s Don Ambo! He’s the richest Haciendero in the entire province! He supplies rice to the entire country!”
The Lawyer handed the documents to Mang Ambo.
“Sir, the transaction is complete. We have paid Mr. Tan. You are the Official Owner of Lusso & Co. from this moment on.”
THE FINAL VERDICT
Mang Ambo entered the store. Now, he was the boss.
Cindy approached, her knees shaking, her face pale, and she almost peed in fear.
“S-Sir Ambo… Don Ambo…” Cindy stammered. “Sorry! I don’t know! I thought…”
“Did you think I was just a farmer and didn’t have any money?” Mang Ambo interrupted.
Mang Ambo took the red dress he wanted to buy earlier.
“I will buy this,” said Mang Ambo. “But I have one order as the new owner.”
“What is that, Sir? I will do everything!” said Cindy, hoping to be forgiven.
Mang Ambo looked Cindy in the eye.
“I want you to clean up my company. And we’ll start by getting rid of scum like you.”
“P-Po?”
“You are fired,” Mang Ambo said firmly. “I don’t want an employee who looks at appearances. Give me your ID and get out of my store. Right now.”
END
Cindy, crying, removed her ID. She was dragged out by a guard—the same guard she had ordered to throw Mang Ambo out earlier.
Mang Ambo turned to the other employees, who were terrified.
“Don’t be afraid,” Mang Ambo smiled. “As long as you treat every customer right, whether they’re wearing a shirt or a jacket, you’ll stay in your job. Because true class isn’t in the clothes you wear, it’s in your manners.”
Mang Ambo went home with the red dress for his wife, while Cindy was left outside the mall, regretting why she had underestimated the person who could buy her entire being.
