A WOMAN’S CAR BREAKS DOWN IN THE MIDDLE OF THE TRACKS WHILE THE TRAIN WAS RUNNING, BUT HER SEATBELT LOCKED SO SHE HOLDED ON THE HANDLEBAR IN FEAR, BUT A BREAKING STARTED THE DESTRUCTION

It was five o’clock in the afternoon in Biñan, Laguna.
It was rush hour.

Ria, a single mom, was tense because she would be late to pick up her daughter from school. To avoid the traffic on the main road, she tried to take a shortcut across the PNR tracks.

She was going fast.
But when the wheels of her sedan went up on the elevated tracks…

Krr-krr-krr…

The engine stopped.
Exactly in the middle of the tracks.

“Oh my God, don’t do it now! Please, start!” Ria shouted as she turned the key.

Chug-chug… Chug-chug…
The starter wouldn’t work.

Suddenly the ground shook.

WEEEEEEEENG!!!

A loud horn blared.
At the bend, the giant PNR Train appeared. It was running fast and had no intention of stopping.

Ria’s eyes widened.

The train was only 200 meters away.

She panicked. She was about to open the door to run, but when she tried to remove her seatbelt, it wouldn’t let go! The mechanism jammed due to the sudden stop and the old lock.

“Help! Help me!” Ria shouted, banging on the window.

She pulled on the seatbelt but it tightened even more on her chest.

Like a snake coiling.

100 meters.

The roar of steel was already audible. The train’s lights were dazzling. Ria could see the face of the machinist desperately braking, but it was too late. The tons of steel would not stop in an instant.

On the side of the tracks, Jepoy was hanging out, a man covered in tattoos, wearing a shirt, and with a scar on his eyebrow. People always avoided Jepoy because they said he looked like a “basagulero” and an “addict”.

Jepoy saw the car.

He saw the woman struggling inside.

Without looking back.

Jepoy ran to the middle of the tracks!

“Miss! Get out!” Jepoy shouted as he opened the driver’s seat door.

“Locked! The seatbelt is locked!” Ria cried.

“Get out! We’re going to die!”

50 meters.

The wind from the train was already hitting them. The horn was deafening.

WEEEEEEEENG!!!

“I won’t leave you!” Jepoy shouted.

Jepoy pulled out a Balisong (butterfly knife) from his pocket.

Ria’s hand was shaking.

The train was like a monster in front of them.

20 meters.

“Yuko!” Jepoy ordered.

In one swift motion, Jepoy rubbed the sharp knife against the seatbelt strap.

SHIIING!

The belt broke!

Ria was free!

But the train was already 10 meters away. They could almost smell its steel and oil.

Jepoy grabbed Ria’s arm with all his strength.

“FALL!!!”

He pulled Ria out of the car. They both fell onto the hard gravel and grass on the side of the tracks.

BLAG!

A millisecond after they hit the ground…

CRAAAAASH!!!

The train crashed into Ria’s car.

The sound was like a bomb exploding. The sedan car was crushed like a soda can. Debris, glass, and tires were flying everywhere. The train dragged the wrecked car for several meters before it finally stopped.

The surroundings were covered in dust and smoke.

A few seconds of silence.

On the grass, Ria slowly got up. Her elbow was injured, bruised, and her whole body was shaking.

She looked next to her. Jepoy was lying there, panting, his face scratched from the glass that had been thrown.

Ria looked at the tracks.
Her car… crushed.

If she had been inside for even a second, she would have been dead.

Ria couldn’t contain her emotions. He crawled closer to Jepoy and hugged her tightly.

“Thank you… Thank you…” Ria sobbed into the man’s chest.

“You saved me… Thank you…”

Jepoy rubbed the woman’s back, his hands also shaking from adrenaline.

“It’s okay, Miss. You’re safe. We’re safe.”

People and rescue teams arrived. Everyone saw how the “social” wife hugged the “hanger” with the tattoo.

That day, Jepoy lost all judgment. The knife that others feared might be for robbery, was the same knife that cut the rope of death.

It has been proven that on the brink of tragedy, the true hero is not the one wearing a cape, but the one who is ready to run towards danger while everyone else runs away.
